ARTSIDEOUT is the University of Toronto Scarborough's largest multidisciplinary, arts festival. During this year's festival, I was given the responsibility as the Director of Operations, and co-direct the festival alongside two other co-directors and manage an admin team of 6, tasked with finance, marketing, and graphic design work. This experience helped me to develop strong interpersonal skills through efficient communication, empathy and problem-solving issues during the pre-planning stages.
There are a lot of challenges such as bringing back the festival post-pandemic, working in a time-crunch which was within the span of 4 months when usually there's a year to plan the festival, and learning leadership skills on the spot as it was my first time contributing to leading such a massive project.
The on-campus festival was an overall success with a massive turnout, bringing students from various majors, faculty, alumni and residents of Toronto together to celebrate the arts for a day.
